The silent rhetoric, or rhetoric tacens of art, may include powerful symbolic gestures, but "silent" gestures may be very eloquent.

In this painting by Rembrandt, the Jewish bride very eloquently reaches out of the painting to "silently" engage the viewer, and by doing so, seems alive! She is an Alberti "witness".
